About Me

By day, I get excited about sentence structure, verb tense, and word walls. By night, I get excited about the junk my neighbor put out by the curb. I read writing all the time, but don't do it enough. What does all of this add up to? A full-time English teacher with a love for crafting who has decided to take on the part-time task of documenting her home decorating adventures.
Why yes, I DO like to sit in trees while wearing fancy clothing!
My very patient husband (who is happy to help with any and all DIY endeavors as long as they don't involve a lengthy trip to Joann Fabrics) and I recently moved into our first "grown-up," circa 1880s rental house with 1500 square feet of space that we are loving making our own. Since this house isn't ours for keeps, though, we are a bit limited in what we can do:  painting in colors of our choice, tearing out the matted carpet, and replacing any of the ancient windows are all big "no"s. So, we've been committed to designing and decorating in a way that won't break the bank--or our lease. While it hasn't all been fun (ruptured hot water heater, anyone?), and there have been moments of frustration (how does one get a queen storage headboard up a narrow, curved flight of stairs, anyway?), we have truly been blessed with many opportunities to learn--and laugh!--as we figure out how to make an empty space into a warm and personal temporary home.

But don't let my fondness for hot gluing and painting my home's earthly treasures fool you:  my real treasure is in heaven, and my daily prayer is that the Lord would help me find a way to use what I love for His glory.

So welcome to our {rented} house, where every day there is a new project going on!

"Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth...and if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve....
But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24: 14-15
